ACTIVITY STALL

RESILIENCE (https://www.resilience-skills.com/) is a programme managed by four centres (University College London (UCL), University of Birmingham, Teesside University, and Heriot Watt University) across the UK that creates and delivers hands-on laboratory and professional skills training courses that are enhanced with virtual reality simulations.

The training is delivered to the UK medicines manufacturing community (industry, National Health Service (NHS), and education providers). Key parts of the programme are development of STEM learning materials and STEM outreach programmes for pre-16, 16+, 18+, and 21+ year olds at various levels (GCSE, A-level, T-level, Apprenticeships, Access) of education.

RESILIENCE outreach is led by Dr Bernice Wright who works as a teaching lecturer and research scientist at the UCL Department of Biochemical Engineering. Bernice develops super fun lab outreach activities at UCL with a team of awesome scientists, Dr Ivano Colao and Jahafar Nazar. The lab experiments that Bernice, Ivano, and Jahafar deliver, help students understand how medicines are made and how they work in the body to cure diseases.
