Become a Ship's Captain

South Shields Marine School are a college training people to work at sea on ships and vessels across the world. They provide training from the age of 16 for school leavers, and their career pathways include Deck Officers, Marine Engineers, and Electro-Technical Officers. Their students can progress their way to become a Ship’s Captain or Chief Engineer to take charge in navigating or operating a ship travelling the world. At the Festival of the Girl, they will be showcasing what working on ships is all about for those interested in science, technology, and geography.
