About the Florence Nightingale Museum:

Did you know Florence Nightingale was the first female member of the Royal Statistical Society? Did you know that she owned over 60 cats throughout her life and had a pet owl called Athena? 

The Florence Nightingale Museum celebrates the life and work of most well-known pioneer of modern nursing.

Through our collection we tell the story of this trailblazing woman.

Her affluent childhood, how she fought against her parents’ wishes to become a nurse, her work during the Crimean War, and we put a spotlight on how she campaigned for better healthcare for ordinary people.

What we'll be doing at Festival of The Girl:

At this year's Festival of the Girl, visitors can meet Florence Nightingale, discuss her achievements in the statistical field and bring statistics to life , as you join her in collecting data while making 'Data Bracelets'.

By making a colourful bracelet, you will also be collecting and recording data to determine which colour beads was the most popular at the festival.
