About Geoconnected

Geoconnected is an education and STEM organisation helping young people discover the power of geospatial technology to understand and solve real-world challenges. Through hands-on workshops using drones, mapping, satellite imagery and environmental data, we make STEM practical, creative and accessible.

Our sessions encourage young people to explore the world around them, develop digital and problem-solving skills, and see how technologies such as drones and mapping are used in careers ranging from environmental science and conservation to surveying, agriculture and disaster management.

What we’ll be doing at Festival of the Girl

At this year’s Festival of the Girl, visitors can get hands-on with drones and geospatial technology and discover how we can use technology to understand and look after the world around us.

Girls will have the opportunity to take on practical challenges, learn how to control and programme drones, explore aerial imagery and use maps and data to investigate real-world problems. They’ll be encouraged to think like a geospatial scientist – observing, mapping, analysing and making decisions based on what they discover.

Geoconnected will also be sharing the many different careers where these skills can be used, from environmental monitoring and conservation to surveying, agriculture, emergency response and climate science.
The aim is simple: to show girls that technology isn’t just something to use – it’s something they can understand, control and use to make a difference.
